Hi, I’m Kim and I’m a minimalist. I’m also a wife, accountant, and business owner.
Welcome to my site–come in and sit awhile. I’m like a lot of people nowadays in that I went to college to get a degree and now live with way too much student loan debt. With my income going towards paying my student loans, my husband and I have been living off one income for years. It’s not easy, and there is an incredible amount of savviness and resourceful needed each month, every month, for us to survive. But survive we do and we’re really not doing so bad. Twice in our life, we’ve had to sell almost everything we owned to make the monthly bills, so we know what it’s like to be barely hanging on. Over the years I’ve become pretty good at cutting expenses, getting rid of non-essentials, and living lean. At the same time we still live, and though we can’t afford a new vehicle every year, or smartphone upgrades, we live well.
Twenty-four years ago I was a homeless addict who had been sleeping in a park or on people’s living room floors for over two years. Too poor and addicted to afford rent and deposit for an apartment, I slept anywhere I could (mostly outside) by night, and by day I worked full-time as a CNA.
Today, I’ve been sober for the second time for fourteen years and I have a two-year degree in finance and a bachelors degree in business from a local (private) university. I’m 52 years young, married for almost 24 years, and living a life that I’m proud of. I got here through hard work, sacrifice, and time. It took time for me to learn that a sober life was/is the only life for me. It took time and hard work to return to college after being out of school 25 years, but I made it. Most of all it took believing I could do it and surrounding myself with a loyal and loving friend and husband.
If there is one thing I know how to do it is how to survive. If there is one thing I’ve learned how to do, that has made my life more than just surviving, but actually living free, and loving life, it’s minimalism. I’m a born life coach and I’m a living breathing example of how a person can turn their life around 360 degrees.
My business is Living Simply and I’m here to help you.
